Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief selector Mohammad Wasim has spoken out about the absence of all-rounder Faheem Ashraf from the central contracts 2022–2023.
Faheem made a name for himself as a reliable member of Pakistan’s team, but recently he was dropped. Mohammad Wasim claimed that the all-around player had not performed to his potential during the previous 12 months in reference to his removal from the squad and the central contracts.
A player’s presence in the central contracts is not assured by their participation on the team. The criteria are simple and include the role in the team, performance over the previous 12 months, our intentions for the following 12 months, and automatic selection, according to Wasim.
Wasim insisted that the all-rounder is still very much in the future plans despite not being given a central contract this time around, despite being passed over.
He claimed that it also took into account commitment, physical condition, and the degree of participation in the home circuit. No one said that Faheem wouldn’t be included in our future plans. The fact that he is travelling with the team to Sri Lanka is the clearest indication of this.
